Hades is goated for the very fun gameplay, randomly generated rewards and room layouts, evolving story line, and having just the right length for each run for an adult. It's my "kids are in bed and I want to play for a half hour game and zen out before bed myself" game. It also makes for a wonderful whiskey night with my bro, where we switch off playing every other room, and then discuss which options from the random choices of boons or pathways to choose. It's really just the perfect game from someone between the ages of 30-50. I'm in my 40's. I have 600 hours into Hades 1 and I'm probably 150 hours into hades 2

It really was mid. Every sage was the same, the formula was old and it didn't really improve on the things that people didn't like about BOTW. The new physics and building was cool, but once you learned the few things that you needed to clear a few shrines, it was the same solution for every shrine. Ascend and recall was basically every single shrine. It got boring.

At least the last boss and final sequence was epic and satisfying.

Elden ring shadow of the erdtree has better bosses. Argubly the 2 best every made from fromsoftwere but it was rushed... leaving the map largly empty... they should have made the scardue fragments scale more liniearlly.

But it never should have been in contention for game of the year
