volt filament doesnt just add 25% more damage to silk skills but additionally adds extra ticks to the end of an attack, for instance thread storm normally with volt filament will receive 2 ticks of damage after its main attack adding up to 10 damage, but extending it lets you do another 5 damage which isnt much on its own but an extended threadstorm on its own does 93 damage, so with the volt filament buff on its own thats 116 damage that thread storm does Without shaman crest

additionally though i love shaman crest, it has very little usefulness in a run due to getting it so late, its effect on silk skills are undeniably the best but volt filament being able to be obtained in act 2 makes it more worth imo
