forgotten crossroads is really intriguing isn't too difficult on it's own and has multiple pathways to new areas. the marrow is kind of visually eh, the excess of spikes lava pits and the double damage guys are a turnoff from fully exploring the place, and it lacks any interesting NPCs come act 2 save for loddie. it only connects to deep docks and retroactively bellhart, which isn't terrible since silksong isn't as linear in hollow knight and all of these things can be hand-waved with lore explainations but that doesn't make the area any more interesting or fun to traverse.
