"Woven of faith and toil" is another line, which could be interpreted in a more literal way. I think the dock workers, the weavers, the pilgrims bringing silk, are all aiming to build something. Lace doesn't want this to be built, so she tries to kill hornet and kill her cage. The thing they are building is actually the silk ball we keep seeing.
