Like only every once in a while is an adaptation of that kind faithful to the source material, and even if the story is faithfully adapted, medium matters when it comes to art, so most stories are inherently worse when told in a different medium than the original artist intended. The only example in recent years I can think of that’s the exception is the Last Of Us show, and that’s because that game is basically already a show that you grind through bad gameplay to watch through the cutscenes.
