As much as I love Hollow Knight to death, it's a formula that is ripe for improvement, addition, and change. The game was very limited in scope because it was TC's first major release as an indie developer, and first foray into the metroidvania genre. They simply didn't have the budget to do more than they did. Now that they have experience and financial success, they can do so much more with Silksong and I am all there for it.

I understand why people are inclined to be pessimistic but this is different than the "next 12 months" thing from Xbox. This is new footage, however brief, with an actual year attached, given to Nintendo by TC with an appearance at a major Direct, reposted by Leth on Twitter, after an exhaustive news gap. They know what a break in silence like this means after so long, and would only have given us anything at all if they were confident.

If they knew they had to be silent for a while longer, they would have. They're clearly already comfortable with being silent for a long period of time, so saying anything at all means something.
