honestly the first bit of tokyo ghoul's anime wasn't half bad but then they did root A where they went in a different direction with the plot which wouldn't have been the worst thing because they tried some interesting stuff if they didn't then starting adapting tokyo ghoul: re completely normally afterwards as it continues from the original manga ending with no context for it so everyone who had only watched the anime was horribly confused
