the issue with artian bows and bowguns is the ammo/coating selection can be bad, it's less of a problem for artians since some elements still get pierce (I have an artian ice bow that works perfectly well) but they're limited in that respect
and with gunlances you have similar issues with shelling type and strength but not as severe
artian swaxes are actually pretty nice it's easy to get element phials or dragon phials
