They completely invalidated any kind of effort you need to put into longsword by making the focus strike give you spirit levels

That one thing just makes the weapon overpowered

It would be balanced if that didnt exist

But now you basically dont need to spend time to build spirit gauge because you can instantly level it with the focus strike

And the payoff for having lv3 gauge is that you get to use your strongest move which will most likely create wounds for you to pop right after

whenever i suffer from the nuances of the hammer parry in sunbreak i think about how long sword parry works in that game and smile that they have it easier

But at least its very fast to do an encore
