In dark souls 1 it’s mostly a non-issue as long as you repair them periodically with minuscule soul cost, except some weapons have unique heavy attacks which do wear down the weapon durability drastically

In dark souls 2 its similar to dark souls 1 except it’s a bit more prevalent because of a certain type of environmental hazard which degrades your durability for equipped shit
