I'm on unironically buying into the theory that Sony bought off a lot of the awards this time. Like they really screwed over helldivers earlier this year and they actually won some awards? that's understandable. i do think there are a number of tracks in elden ring's ost that don't stand out at all but the ones that do outshine those to me. things like the vague waltz of the godskin apostles, the heavy, foreboding marching rhythm on starscourge radahn that eventually descends into something more akin to a funeral march. and then in the dlc you have things like playful woodwinds paired with rising, grand melodies that evoke that feeling of festivity on divine beast dancing lion's theme, or the sublime ferocity that gradually dissolves into a vicious yet melancholic resignation on messmer's theme towards the end, so on and so forth
