again, for one, most forums are hosted on much larger platforms that will be around for a very long time and even if the forum closes, the posts are still there and archived. and even if these forums were hosted independently, there were generally very dedicated communities surrounding them and they ended up getting archived-- you are overestimating the number of forums on the internet that are just no longer accessible in any way, i'd say there's likely far more closed but still visible forums out there than there are ones that died out and vanished completely, and the ones that did generally didn't end up garnering much community

but even then you can find like, sonic forums that were populated by at most like, 20 children that are STILL archived and visible
