like i understand the idea, you either use it or you sacrifice a slot to get extra power
but like,

1. the 1 notch slot cost wont really impact that much in the grand scheme of things because early on charm economy is so tight and yet most of the good charms are like 2-3 slots. Tf you gonna put on that 1 notch? fucking thorns for traversal?

2. realistically all people do is they swap in and out before a bossfight that theres NOT really that much engaging decide whether to slot it or not, it just ends up tedious

3. given that everone already slots it anyway, it feels more like a gimped QOL feature that is better off being permanent, and imo its not as impacting if they make it permanent

its different to something like, automatic map updating in terms of how much it impacts the gameplay loop

even with perma compass Hollow Knight doesnt suffer that as much as early on it already enforces you to UNDERSTAND the room layouts, but it also still has the problem of making it too obtuse with how similar looking some rooms are

i played with a couple of Skyrim hardcore modpacks and one of the first thing they do is remove the map pointer on you because now you have to vaguely look at your surroundings and infer what direction you should be going

it made exploring a lot more rewarding because now youre relying on the world's structure and landmarks to decide where to go. That would be fine but HK unfortunately sometimes have samey looking rooms so you kinda have to rely on the room entrance/exit as a basis

Destroying the throne gave the full Authority over all of Hydro to Neuvillette, who is the Dragon Sovereign of Hydro.||

There’s unique synergy moves with class interaction too that consume multiple turn icons

But if you hit a weakness or crit you get them back as half icons
