Hollow Knight's script is about 40,000 words long according to Leth. That's translated into nine languages. And that's in 2017, before DLC.

Let's assume maybe 10,000 words get added, especially with language flourishes like "thou cringer". It's probably more, tbh.

And some localization has a per-word rate, and might discount repeated words... but let's not try to figure that out entirely. Rough estimate.

So if we're looking at at least .60 per word to cover popular languages... translation is at least $30,000. Not bad for a difficult task!

so we're still only at $1.48 million in costs... but that's before we pay Larkin, all the playtesters, and each porting studio — a little trickier to figure out costs for. I'd assume a fair bit...
