If Animal Well and Hades 2 aren't at least nominated for GotY it is an insult to video games as a whole. It undermines their value as a medium for creativity and artistic expression. It is am insult to indie developers because it devalues indie developers and the talent, effort, and artistic perspective and ability by showing them they can't compete on the same stage as the increasingly stale AAA industry. Most AAA games now are only doing what's been tried and tested a million times before. For the most part they don't take any big risks or try anything outstandingly new. Indie developers have shown us they can offer bold, new, interesting, and fun many times over the years and some receive a good deal of critical acclaim and success, and are often well recognized and talked about for years afterward. But it's never enough for them to win any significant awards. Most certainly not GotY. GotY is a joke at this point and I've stopped watching the past couple years. I think it's time indie developers get the full recognition that they deserve rather than the vast majority being overlooked or receiving a pat on the back like "Well done champ." at TGA. Why is it that indies are almost never seen in the same light as AAA games when, especially in recent years, they're arguably much better?
