Have you seen how good pre-rendered backgrounds can look in some older games? With like very little costs on performance? Imagine pre-rendered backgrounds, baked-in lighting, and fixed camera angles on a modern game. In the right context ofc. Not every game needs or should use this, but old graphical styles shouldn't be overlooked when they could be executed so much better on modern hardware.
