allegedly one of the challenges and limitations behind it was the UI for pantheons and the hall of gods. That - in addition to the new fights, theme, junk pit, and every slightly reskinned godhome boss arena.
Hollow knight is as much programmed and developed as it is animated and drawn - and we’re already seeing silksong attempt to expand in scale in that regard.

I’d agree with this, but hk’s trailers seemed to stick primarily to crossroads, early city, and greenpath.

TC may have learned to show off more of their game, rather than be showing off the same % of the areas and content.

I think it’s more reasonable to assume that silksong took/is taking time to meet developer and player expectations alike, but that newer goals are generally fairly taxing.

ie if TC wants to add something interesting, it needs to be done slowly to be something the devs and players want added

What I’m honestly excited for is more the actual quality of what’s added, rather than the scale of the game. Charms were fun in HK but a good 50% of them aren’t interesting or powerful. Crests are leaps and bounds farther from that

The map was excellent but it was also a little buggy. TC could end up putting a more dev time into areas that don’t end up being easy to discover - if the grub map wasn’t added - several areas and bosses feel almost inaccessible, which is a shame if you miss 1 easy to miss hallway in queens.

Grubs placed in this way seem purposeful. The grubs in the hive and nosk’s arena come to mind

fuck man, you reminded me of the more hardcore STALKER mods where on top of adding a thousand items that does a very specific thing (ie gun glue increases your weapon condition, but only if its 90% condition and above, meanwhile a barrel cleaner can increase it only if its 85% and above... etc)

it also had full on foods, cooking devices, fuel types which can impact the quality of the food (charcoal is the best but its heavy whereas gas is a lot more limited), etc mutated animal foods are the easiest to procure but ofc radiation is an issue hence you need to drink alcohol which can make you drunk, hence its much better to eat prepackaged rations but theyre expensive as hell because theyre imported

and on top of that, each food now has a specific calorie intake, so depending your class (assaults are bulkier, scouts are lighter, snipers dont move much), it will change your BMR upkeep that you need to eat each day

in terms of classes though, it did kinda balance itself out, each classes had their own weapon specializational and assaults as the name implies allows you to go full ham with breach and clear so the expected gameplay is for you to be constantly aggressive, whereas snipers have lower movement speed but is compensated by the class that needs the least amount of food, so you have more options for less risks if you want to

scouts on the other hand can use drugs and just run at mach speed across the map
