i dont shut the fuck up about the game but Battle Brothers has critics like these that i entirely agree with

usually, every build is viable but if you wanna be optimal for harder content, then you have certain perks/builds right? makes sense.
but in battle brothers you pretty much need to learn the perk meta, what to take to specialize each brother because the game is hard as it already is (even mroe so for new players)

its always the same,
brother has bad fatigue but good attack? he's a 2hander build
brother has higher than 60 base health? give him a perk that increases his health by 25%
brother has high defense but bad attack? make him a tank and give him these specific perks

its already "solved" so to say and a lot of people has criticized it that theres not really a whole lot of build variety when it boils down to you requireing the same stuff to be effective. its ok if the average new player can adlib and make anything work, its the problem when they HAVE to use specific builds for a chance to survive

whatsoever. Enjoyable turn based RPGs are exceptions to the rule for many players, like me, and accomplish this by genre mixing, innovating, or just accomplishing the basics in an effecient way.

Turn based RPGs I have liked:

-Darkest Dungeon 1
-Gen IV pokemon

Turn RPGs I could not play for more than 5 minutes:

the best part of the modding renaissance was New Vegas getting a library called "KNVSE"

its basically a script library that allows people to not only alter EVERY animation but also add new ones

originally the main limitation is that you could only swap like 14 animations but not add new ones too, so you had weird issues where your gun would have this super intricate detailed 2023 FPS styled animation but immediately snap back to really ugly hipfire animations, this library basically allows you to redo all of it
