i think it should have an affect around your character when they are falling to make it more clear when its gonna proc because theres a certain amount of like tiles you gotta fall for it to work and its hard to gauge in my experience

for the case of Spikes Boots I'd say that it's kinda survivor dependant or just simply the way you play
I figured out that with a double jump it actually makes quite a lot of damage on groups, so as long as you use of this you're fine
But yeah it's not a huge difference. It's like the medkits that heals 15 HP flat after taking damage, it's just useful, not by a lot

Because of how the internet works, misinformation, bad faith arguments and general negativity and maliciousness is rampant and so a lot of people agreeing on something does not mean you should blindly believe it or follow suit. This is not specific to Returns but just in general, speaking from experience.

In the context of Returns, yea you can have day 1 opinions and first thoughts, but frame it as such rather than saying "item bad/item good" and that's that. The game is literally not even a week after launch and remember how perceptions of a ton of 2 items changed over the years and people playing the game more. Everything in moderation. Have that self-awareness, that nuance and you're good.
