definitely sky islands. I have two little brothers, and I sort of taught them the game from there, and it was a lot of fun because coop isn't balanced at all.

My first vulture kill was with spearmaster

I got sick of being a scaredy coward and I hugged his body while stabbing him

part of it is making sure you reuse vulture grubs, and camping in a pipe. there's a specific place in either chimney canopy or pipeyards, I forget, but there's a large open room with a grub in the next room and then a shelter in the room after that, and it's just a case of pipe cheese and a lot of spears.

Once you learn the tech, gourmand is a hundred times easier. Throw-boosting gives him more momentum, sliding stuns enemies and travels nearly a whole screen, backflip and rolls can kill things, and it makes up for his slothfulness otherwise.
