it doesnt have to be a dog or a cat. you can keep a simple pet like an insect or an anthropod and they do kinda help a bit

@gray parcel anyways my main point was that if the majority of players never use a mechanic in a game and when they do use it it's just a chore and not fun for the player then it probably shouldn't be in the game, and fromsoft seems to agree because they removed the mechanic
