yeah something that i've learned over the course of my life is that a good story doesnt have to answer every question, and in most cases it actually worsens the story to try and answer every question and tie up every single unanswered question. We can form our own conclusions and end lay the story to rest. We dont need to add 100 small little details on the state of Hallownest, especially when we're talking adding all of these callbacks and tie-ins to a game that is supposed to be separate and distinct. good games, tv shows, and all sorts of things leave you wanting more and its important that these things end when theyre supposed to and not overstay their welcome. we got a lot out of Hollow Knight and now its time to explore a new world and have new experiences that compare to Hollow Knight. Idk about you, but if hollow knight continued to stick around well into Silksong, i would get bored. That story has already been told.

Hollow knight has some of the best story telling and world building i've ever seen, and it's specifically because it doesn't give us all the answers. The intrigue, and mystery, and theory crafting is what adds so much to the story. It's why fnaf got popular. The game was okay, but the lore was super compelling because we had to draw our own conclusions. And where fnaf fucked up, is that their lore was bullshit the whole time and they had no fucking clue what it was about.

Hollow knight, has a more cohesive story behind it, but still utilizes that intrigue very well, and makes the world of hollow knight feel bigger than we get to see, yet vastly empty in a cool way

i do kinda agree with you and i think it can be either, depends on the player. Me personally, i dont think the knight is hollow either because myself, the knight, made all sorts of connections with all the different characters and i think hes been corrupted by ideas which means he wouldnt be the proper vessel to contain the infection. Really, because the Pale King instilled an idea into THK that kinda means anything is fair game imo and that the vessels were flawed from the start. For me this aligns with the Dream No More ending in which the knight in an act of will destroys the radiance
