Monomon was a teacher/researcher who stored important information in her archives. She offered herself up for the seal. Quirrel was her apprentice and she sent her off into the wastes with the dreamer mask for an extra layer of protection, but called him back later when she realized Radiance's containment was futile.

Lurien seems to have been security for the capital, monitoring the city through his telescope. He doesn't have a lot of lore

Btw i got a pretty messy theory about the voidheart flashback smth, basicly i think in some headcanons it could be possible that it isnt Little Ghost's flashback but Hollow Knight's and the whole time Ghost is just "spectating", similar as in the memory things in Harry Potter universe, but then the cutscene doesnt really make sense.
In this theory Ghost basicly lost his connection to the "Abyss Hivemind" and he needs to visit the birthplace and dreamnail not himself but the hive mind itself to gain acess back, but then he becomes the shade lord because after his time out of the hive mind he is able to both stay connected and have his own thoughts and identity.
Also he is very, very impure and in both ending A and B it just doesnt end well.

pale king came to the kingdom
he offered expended minds and sapience for bugs in return of being worshipped
moth tribe willingly turned away from radiance
radiance almost ceased to exist due to being forgotten
radiance got pissed
she went into the dreams of bugs and started showing them bright visions
infection started
pk got to know
he created millions of vessels with the white lady
he selected the vessel he considered pure
he trained and grew that vessel
that vessel then contained the radiance into its head
the vessel turned out to be not pure and the radiance got loose
she was even more pissed and infected more of the kingdom
thk's mask cracked and it screamed
TK came to the kingdom
