The current version of CK has a way to globally do it. You need to use the Global folder and name the sprite by the correct Hash name
currently, there isn't a list of all Hash names. That's something I'm starting to work on, but haven't done a bunch with yet.
To get the names yourself, you need to Not have any skins/swapper stuff active, then go into a room and use the Dump option. When it's all done, you'll have entries in your Global folder in the CK folder, and those are the sprites with the correct Hash names

When you dump a sprite, it'll general the hash name based on the data that makes up that sprite

The way the Global Swaps work, they replace anything that would have had the hash value of the thing that you named it
so you generate the Hash of a grub, for example, then you name an image that same hash name, and then whenever the game sees that grub hash, it instead uses your sprite
If you haven't seen Chaktis' recent usage of this btw, it's definitely worth seeing.
They replaced literally everything in Colosseum.
It is a bit buggy unfortunately, because it's a new feature and it hadn't really been used heavily until very recently (so no bug testing had been done), but it's incredibly useful.

make sure you get the mod that is made for your patch a lot of times mods will have separate 1.4 and 1.5 releases.
-Open scarab and click the open mods button.
-Move the mod you installed into the mods folder you just opened.
If you are on 1.5 and the mod you downloaded is a .dll then in your mods folder create a folder with the name of the mod and move the .dll into the newly created folder.
-Load the game and the mod will be there.

Hello! I've been facing problems with mod installers. I'm currently on a MAC computer and I tried to download the application, it worked. Piracy is not something that is supported in pretty much any "main" community for a game, and that includes modding communities.
HK Modding is only supported on the official Steam version, the official GoG version, and the official Microsoft Store version.

Basicly when I start up HK with the mod a pop-up appears in-game on the top left corner that says "Enemy Randomizer" after I click it there is a lag spike and the background of the title screen becomes shots of places in Hallownest, the title music is replaced with the area that appears in the background it continues to do this and it's to laggy to do anything.
I assume me clicking that pop-up thing is turning on the randomizer?
I have a pretty beefy computer so I doubt that would be the problem.

Hi i just started modding HK, and one mod i got from scarab was the "debug mod" which i see a lot of HK players using. I have it enabled in scarab and have restarted the game, but i can't figure out how to access the debug menu, despite other mods i have enabled working. Thanks

If the mod is correctly installed (you can check if the mod name is in the list at the top left of the title screen) you have to press f1 while in game to open its menu

- restart your computer, then try opening Scarab again
- if that doesn't work, then install a VPN and then open Scarab. Many people just https://1.1.1.1

All of the sprites that CK replaces by default come with the mod, in the "Default" skin folder.
You can copy that, and draw over them / on a layer above them if you want.
There's also a split up skin posted pinned in #modding-discussion that you can edit, and then reassemble. To reassemble it, you either use Sprite Packer (a little daunting to most, but really useful), or Custom Knight Creator (easy to use, but has some major bugs that can just break the program entirely on your computer)
Just make sure you save your files as 32bit pngs. Some programs and some people accidentally export at a lower bit (iirc Photoshop tries to default to 8bit 🥴 ), and that will look really bad in-game

This happens when something didn't install correctly.
The easiest way to fix it is to force Scarab to reinstall all of the rando mods.
You can:
- Close the game and Scarab
- Run the Mod Installer script below to reset the Scarab memory file
- Right click Scarab, and select "Run as Administrator"
- Reinstall Randomizer 4, and any other mods you were using with it. Be sure to wait for the loading bar to finish after each one installs.
Windows scripts to reset things:

- Double-Click the file*

Some of the mods I have installed just... stopped working. I have them enabled on scarab, and they have worked before. Only thing I can think of that might cause this is if an update to HK happen and it did it automatically. To be specific, pale prince and anyrad stopped loading, all of my other mods still work. <@&328354344313421825> so i used scarab for modding and i downloaded the debug mod and clicked give all charms. i used it for trial of the fool and hornet but when i was done i saw there was no revert button, only give all charms and remove all charms. i tried verifying the game files on steam and when i opened the game back up there was no modding menu. i tried everything and nothing worked. so ive been stuck with a broken game and all charms for the past 6 hours and i have no idea how to fix it. can somebody help me?

Dont need to use a drive or any backup, just go to beta 1.4 in steam
Then use modinstaller 1 or 2, but current patch has more and updated mods
