Alright, so, a couple months ago, I tried the mod installer. It downloaded fine, no problem, and I could install whichever mods l liked. However, when I actually went into the game, ''mods'' did appear in the option menu, but it was completely empty. I tried multiple things, I checked that I had the correct version for the mod installer(1.4.3.2) and eventually I even tried deleting the mod installer to try again. The option ''mods'' disappeared from the menu, but then I was unable to download the mod installer again at all. Today, I decided to give it another try, since windows had received many updates since then. I was again able to download the mod installer, and again the mods option appeared in-game, but empty. This time, I tried disabling the mod installer instead. It told me that it was unable to detect Hollow knight, and telling me to check the integrity of my game files. So, I decided to uninstall the game and then install it again to see what would happen. At first I was hopeful, since it now gave a different message while it was installing, telling me to check if the game was installed. However, once the game was actually installed, it just gave me the previous message again! I'm desperate, does anyone know how to fix this?

Update:So, I found the pinned message that seemed to be talking exactly about my problem. Like I was told, I deleted the assembly sharp files, then clicked on verify integrity, before opening the mod installer and the game again. It did download the mod installer a second time, but it still wasn't working after. I tried twice, and on the second time I clicked on verify integrity two times to see if it would make a difference. It did not. What am I missing? Is there a special way to close to the mod installer? I just click on the x in the corner.

Hollow point didn’t work when I had all: additional maps, benchwarp, easy mode, enemy hp bar, hollowpoint, infinite notches, invincibility monitor, item changer, more healing, sfcore, skill upgrades, unity explorer, vanilla map, and vasi all enabled.
Hollow point did work when I disabled benchwarp, item changer, and unity explorer. With all the others enabled.

yeah, i think xbox lets you move the install location to a folder you choose, then I just used mod installer 2 and it worked

From time to time, maybe, although generally it's extremely frowned upon for indie games. There are also long play no commentary videos out there or just reviews that can give you nearly the same though. It'd be hard to replicate the feeling of exploration in a youtube video, but still, it's more reasonable than pirating. And anyways, that's not even really related, piracy is bad, but this person has already done that and played however much of the game, that's set in stone, whats annoying is that they're going to continue to pester me and others about modding the game which we don't have to support, makes it much more complicated, and can be a waste of volunteers time and patience.
