Yes, that's what I meant and good. But yea, using 1.5 mods on 1.4.3.2 won't work, but it shouldn't cause a crash (afaik I'm probably wrong), if you want to switch to 1.5, verify your game integrity (Steam library > right click HK > properties > local file > verify integrity of game files) then use scarab

I'd say you could atleast have a work around by using Debug mod/Save editing to add more masks to yourself, it's possible it'd also fix your problem to change your mask shard count in save editing, tho I'm not sure

Required skips will be skips you need to do in order to reach certain major items

Randomizer works based off "logic", which dictates what items you can reach with what items, so for example you need claw to reach a geo rock or something (Which could be randomized to be an important item, such as dash), skips are tricks, like dying to something and then pogoing off your shade to reach a ledge you couldn't reach otherwise (Shade skips), to reach things in a different order
Logic keeps it so almost every seed is possible

someone in #hk-help suggested i ask here cause it's a more technical question
i was playing steel soul on my 3rd save file and eventually like 5 hours in the game crashed and when i relaunched it, save 2 where i had a save was empty and that save was in slot 3 with seemingly an older file cause it has 50 minutes instad of like 3 hours. my steel soul save is nowhere to be found. i tried restoring .baks for user2 and user3 but neither did anything. am i doing something wrong?

All that's different is that your custom knight folder is in a slightly different location, doesn't really matter since you can just press the "Open Mods" button in scarab/mi2

I don't get an error when opening mod installer 2, I get what seems to be the program, then I click the checkbox to install a mod, and it checks the box, but nothing else happens. if I try to enable any of the newly checked mods, nothing happens,ans when I click the "Open mods" bit in the lower left corner of the window, the program crashes.

Thanks, that did it. it took a minute, because the config/hkInstallerSettings.json file was in appdata roaming, not App local, but once I found and deleted it, ModInstaller2worked.

I’ve been having some issues with Scarab, specifically with Custom Knight.
Every other mod works and shows up fine, but either custom won’t show up in the mods menu even though it’s in the top left, or it will show up and it soft locks my game to an empty pause menu when I apply a skin and try to exit.

For the soft lock part, try this. Put this in a folder in your mods folder (Press "Open Mods" on scarab to get to the mods folder) then press f3 or fn + f3 to forcefully close the menu when it freezes

hmm okay so i did the recommended fix for scarab on 1.5 w custom knight and i'm still experiencing an issue where closing out the menu, depending on what skin i'm using, does not continue gameplay. it leaves the screen dimmed and doesn't accept any input
this was after an upgrade from 1.4, previously using ModInstaller & i got rid of all the old settings files

I've been trying to launch the randomizer mod through scarab, but each time I boot the game it hangs while loading. It worked once, but hasn't since. Any suggestions on what I can look at to try and fix this?

I'll also add that if I launch the game with the dependent mods (Vasi, QoL and Benchwarp) the game boots no problem

You can try down patching to 1.4 and use the randomizer there. It's the same thing just ported to 1.5

If for some reason it doesn’t then you will typically need to install vasi or satchel
