Basically you want to find a file called Assembly-CSharp.dll in your hk application contents and replace it with the one from the ModdingApi mod in the google drive. Then create a mods folder in the same location as the file and put mod .dll files in there

Yes, you must unzip the installer to use it.

What mods are you wanting to install?

If you want mods for current patch, then you need to use Scarab.

If you want mods that aren't on current patch (mainly Randomizer), then you need to change to the 1432 Beta.

Info for that is in pins pinknight

Most likely no matter what, you'll need to do the "if mods still aren't working" steps in the third pin, as that fixes a lot of common issues

I'm not sure how to solve the problem specifically, but you can use something like xpadder to map controller buttons to keyboard keys which will at least get you working.

Mac has a completely different layout, open the hollow_knight_Data folder, and then the Managed folderi nside that, there'll be a couple Assembly-CSharp files. Then in the game files, go down the following path: \Hollow Knight\hollow_knight.app/Contents\Resources\Data\Managed\ and place the Assembly-CSharp files into the Managed folder, replacing existing ones

Make sure you follow the exact path, mac has two managed folders for whatever reason

There is no folder named “hollow_knight_Data” by default there is one named just “Data” I just uninstalled and reinstalled the game to be sure and still no luck.

Tell me if any part of this sounds wrong: open steam, right click Hollow Knight [1.4.3.2] in library, hover over manage, click browse local files, right click hollow_knight and click Show Package Contents, expand folder named contents, a bunch of stuff and folders show up one of which is named “Data” with “Managed” inside of it and nothing inside of “Managed” there is no folder named “hollow_knight_Data”

If you're using mi2/scarab, press "Open Mods" in the bottom left of the installer, open the "Custom Knight" folder, and place the skin folder (make sure you unzip it) into the folder

Yes. Randomizer is only on 1.4. And it's basically just running a multiplayer server and both players start a randomizer, probably with the same seed

@native ice realized the problem with the custom knight mod was that there was a folder missing/in the wrong place by reading the error log so I put the folder there and now it works! Still no luck with the randomizer as I have no clue what it wants.

Hey does anyone know decoration master very well? I can't get the teleport crystals to work
I've tried jumping into them, swiping at them, dashing, etc. etc. I'm putting one crystal's identity into another's destination, am I doing something wrong?
Basically I'm trying to make a custom map that's ideal for speedrunner vs hunter multiplayer games, except more fair, lower skill floor, and much more creativity in routing by eliminating how linear the game is early on. It's going REALLY well but I need to enable a way to skip the baldur without getting spirit first. I mean I can always put in the rules that you can temporarily enable fireballs using debug mode to clear a baldur, that's just not very convenient. I'd love to build the change into the map but nothing in decoration master can kill the baldur and the hazard respawn thing won't let me get around it. Was hoping teleportation crystals could get me around them...any suggestions/ideas?

Did you check the settings? Unless you enable the Chaos setting (there might be another one that does it) all enemies of the same type are randomized to the same enemy, i.e. if one crawlid turns into absrad, all crawlids will be absrad

You need to make sure that the skin is installed correctly. It should be exactly like the "default" skin, but with a folder name other than "default"

Those shouldn't be in that folder, but regardless now you're in your mods folder.

Assuming your using Scarab and are on 1.5, then skins need to go into Custom Knight > Skins iirc

A. You need to change skins within save files, on the pause screen menu. Do not change skins from the title screen menu.

B. Hollow Point conflicts with Custom Knight a bit. If you set your skin in custom Knight, then close the game and reopen it, it might work because it gets around what HP does to lock the skin. This doesn't work for everyone though for some reason.

It's possible that you're using an old version the installer. You may need to redownload it.

Regardless, you can see where the installers get mods from by looking at the modlinks.xml file

I would recommend getting your installer working though, because it's useful for updating things.

Fwiw, the skin work around wasn't possible for awhile. That being said, if it's 1.5, then I also would hesitate to ever say that CK is mutually exclusive from anything, as it has Swapper in it, which allows for re-skinning anything in the game, not just The Knight

hi again, for some reason, when i load mods now my save files won’t appear, and the mods don’t even load, the bar doesn’t show when opening the game. I uninstalled every mod, checked my steam file integrity (which said it was missing things) redownloaded some mods, and i have the same issue.

so i'm having the same issue i had with the linux modinstaller that i had before: it's breaking my controller. IIRC, this was what the guy cut a build to fix for me. apparently the default build didn't have the right stuff added for the linux build (i don't recall all the details). I assumed this would have been fixed upstream but apparently it wasn't. any advice?

i'm using modinstaller2, not scarab, since the point is to get rando working & apparently rando doesn't work on 1.5/scarab yet

This is a known issue with the Modding API. The most consistent way to fix this is to unplug the controller before starting the game, and plug it in at the title screen.

You have to manually install the ModdingAPI for unix systems

For 1432 you need to manually install the Modding API, because the one that mod installer gets is only for Windows.

This is the Unix API:

Inside there's an AssemblyCSharp file, and it needs to overwrite the one you currently have. I think off the top of my head that it's in the Data folder that is in the Mods folder path

Hollow Point conflicts with Custom Knight a bit. If you set your skin in custom Knight, then close the game and reopen it, it might work because it gets around what HP does to lock the skin. This doesn't work for everyone though for some reason.

In-short: Hollow Point attempts to force the default skin. Custom Knight kinda pre-sets that skin when you load the game though.

Look through the bindings panel to see which keys are bound and/or which ones need bound.
You have to set QuickSave and QuickLoad I know. If you want the permanent ones, then when you find the button to set one, you press that button, then press 1 - 0 to save it to that slot.

Scarab is just an app that downloads mods, so you just delete your scarab folder. If you want to get rid of mods from your game completely you can:

Open Scarab
Click "mods folder" in the bottom left
Delete that folder
Delete Scarab
Right click hollow knight in steam -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity

You will not longer have any mod stuff at all on your compyter

You can simply do step 5 and leave Scarab on your computer to easily get mods back later, though.

Scarab opens and closes on MacOS
🔹 Move the file you downloaded (mac.zip) to your Desktop
🔹 Double-Click it, and Scarab omegamaggotprime should appear
🔹 Right-Click the Scarab icon, and select "show contents"
🔹 Go into the MacOS folder, and then double-click the "Scarab" file.

Actually scroll down to the back button and click it rather than using ESC or B etc

As for fixing it a quit out or using F6 (I think that's the default key?) on the latest debug mod should work.

I assume you mean the installer for the latest patch? If so, go to this link and just click the highlighted word that says "[OS].exe" (OS being Windows/Mac/Linux), and it should download.

I am making something that I am keeping secret for now, but it does involve respriting most of the chracters in hollow knight. Is there some version of customknight that lets me resprite more chracters. That would be really helpful.
