when i set a skin from the main menu and choose a save file, it ends up going back to the default skin, and when i change the skin in-game, the game freezes

now custom knight is no longer showing in the mod settings in-game

Also check that HK is not running in the background

I believe what this means is, you need to make sure that the preload setting is on in the globalsettings file, and then disable hollow point, load the save and equip the skin you want, re-enable hollowpoint, and then put that skin on

I also tied to just add in the modding files, but any search for the actual CustomKnight mod by itself just leads me to mod installers

Okay, well I'm really not sure. All I can say is manually install the mods. First, take the api you downloaded earlier (The assembly-csharp files) and drop all that in to \Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed\ then, download custom knight from here:https://github.com/PrashantMohta/HollowKnight.CustomKnight/releases/tag/v1.5.0 (the zip), unzip it, and place the contents into the mods folder. You'll also need to get Satchel (linked at the top of the custom knight link) and put the dll into a folder called "Satchel" in the mods folder

  -- If it has any text at the top-left about ModdingAPI

• If that doesn't work, then also download and run this file:

That means you have mods working

So, you should just need to install CustomKnight in Scarab, and it should automatically get Satchel for you.

Then add skins to Custom Knight (in the Mod Menu, there's an option to open the CustomKnight skin folder; or you can use Open mod folder button at the bottom-left of Scarab, and then go to your CustomKnight folder)

and you probably also didn't include the steam_appid file to launch your copied files properly

so, the main branch is what launches
