I am trying to download the mod installer for 1.5 but it keeps telling me “this installer requires the most recent stable version to run. Please update your game to current stable patch then try again.” Steam automatically updates games for me and there is nowhere for me to manually update it. (When I check in game it says I’m on patch 1.4.75.11827) How do I fix this?

im pretty sure you can manually update it to the most recent patch by right clicking on hk, going to properties, then betas, and clicking on none in the dropdown menu

That means you're not using the mod installer for 1.5, you're using the one for 1.4. Download scarab from the pins or downpatch your game (3rd pinned message)

When it crashed, did you see anything before or after? An error? A loading bar?

Use Esc on your keyboard to quit out (And/or possibly the back button that's in the menu).
The button that you're using to leave the menu is messed up in the mod menus. It's a known bug.

if it was Mod Installer 2, you can possibly uncheck "ModdingAPI" in the mod list.

If you are on current patch, then you need to use Scarab.
You'll need to use Steam's "Verify Integrity" first, then install Scarab (it's linked in the pins )

It's a bug in Mapi iirc. Or rather, the patch the HK updated to, and it went unoticed at first. The Mod Menu worked fine in .63, but then had this bug in .75

Overall, Scarab (current patch) is better; some mods haven't been remade for it yet though, such as Randomizer, so for those you need to play 1432

The one in the channel description is Mod installer 1, it still works, sometimes it's better for windows, sometimes it gives you more information. The os specific one is Mod installer 2, it's got a different ui, and it sometimes works better for macs. They're mostly the same, and all the mods on them are the same.

Hello everybody. I'm new. This is the second time I play Hollow Knight. The first time I played, I used Modinstaller, and played with Bornfire Mod and Hollow point Mod. Everything is normal. But rightnow, I play with Bornfire Mod and Lightbringer mod. I have an error. I cant take extra marks (bornfire Mod), and maybe lightbringer can't crit. If you used both Scarab and mod installer on the same install of HK, you most likely have broken modding files, so you need to completely remove them all, which is what those instructions are for.

Uh, not sure about the demon slayer skin, if you've seen it then you may be able to get it from where you saw it. But to use skins, download the mod installer (scarab is for the latest game version) from the pins, run it and download custom knight, and then press the "Open Mods" button on the installer, and place the skin folder in the \Custom Knight\Skins\ folder

Well, currently there's two patches that mods work on ||excluding 1.2.2.1 since there's only like 5 mods meant for speedruns||, 1.4.3.2, and 1.5.75.11827, the error you're getting is because you're using the 1.4.3.2 mod installer on 1.5, you can either down patch your game or get the 1.5 mod installer (called scarab). However, scarab doesn't have all the mods on it yet, there's a list of which mods are on scarab in the first pinned message. Some major mods not on scarab yet, Randomizers (Enemy and items and rooms), hollow point (g u n ), several boss revamp mods, light bringer and a couple other game play changing mods.

I have the old ModInstaller, the one that is supposed to work with the 1.4 HK. I have HK installed from steam and down patched. When I clicked the modinstaller.exe it briefly opens a window then adds an AU.exe. Nothing else happens
