customknight uses the game's skin unless you select a different one. the default named folder is treated as an alternate skin as well

the skin is kept across saves after it's been loaded once
the settings, if there is one, is a text file
there's no skins in that
the setter is used when swapping the skins
setting the name of your skin in the modsettings should allow to do what you want
like so, where asd is the folder containing your skin

there are many mac programs that map things to keyboard inputs
just google some
and pretty sure you can remap mouse controls in HK itself, they just don't stick after you close the game, so you have to rebind them every time

Depends what you're looking for, CustomKnight is a bit more complicated but adds skins which a lot of people like. Lightbringer is a good content changing mod. Randomizer 3 is also pretty good. There's also the boss changing mods that are pretty good
There's a tutorial for it in the pins, as well as a google drive with all the different skin options

Yea, check in the top left of the main menu and if you see mod names then it's working

How come I'm all of a sudden doing so low dmg?
If you had debug mod installed you may have accidentally turned down your nail damage

If you have blackmoth that's probably why your nail was dealing so little damage, I think it rebalances it so your main damage soure is dashing

Are you on ModInstaller2? Cause I think you might have to install ModdingApi and Modcommon using the prompts instead of it being automatically done

Okay so what exactly is happening?
You start the game and your Knight is default and everything is okay. While in game you press pause, then click on the word sapphire on the left. Your Knight disappears and never reappears?
In the folder where your custom skins are, rename "default" to literally anything else, then rename sapphire to "default".
Close the game before you do this, obviously.
Then load up the game and see what happens.

And just to confirm, you have a folder inside your custom knight folder called "default" and inside that is the images for the Sapphire skin?

Huh. That's quite puzzling. It sounds like your custom knight just isn't affecting the game at all.
Where did you download the mods from?

Okay, rename your skins back to normal, then disable all other mods in your mod installer except for modding API, custom knight, and mod common

"ModInstaller.exe" doesn't install a Mod Installing program. It is the program. If you never remove it from Downloads, then it stays there

You should only need to run the modinstaller when you want to add or remove certain mods, or if you uninstall mods and want to reinstall them.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. If you can open the mod manager you downloaded the mod installer, do you mean you're having trouble installing mods? And what do you mean by the mods folder part? When you install mods the installer should create a 'Mods' folder inside your game files automatically

Itโs just asking you to select where hollow knight is installed
Okay, click the option and navigate to your drive that has Steam files in it, you can find the by going to steam library, right clicking hollow knight, going to properties, local files, and clicking browse, then finding the path at the top. Then navigate the mod installer to that same path
In steam to get where hk is installed, go to your library page in steam, right click hollow knight, click properties, click local files, click browse local files. Then a file explorer window will pop up and you can view the path to the hollow knight folder. Go to that folder in mod installer

It looks like you somehow moved assembly-csharp.dll into the mods folder but it shouldn't be there
i checked in the hollow knight folder
i didnt move it, all i did was run the exe file for the mod loader and it put everything in the places
where should i put the assembly-csharp.dll

At some point, you should also remove the (1) from the name of SpeedrunMod.dll. For some reason, some bugs can occur when mods have incorrect names. It probably isn't a big deal, but it's been known to happen.

Jamie is the one who pointed it out to me, iirc. And it definitively affects Randomizer3 and/or BingoUI. I assume it affects other things, as I assume that the .dll is given a name within the code or when building, and that that name is referenced somehow.

i've just installed the mod so im learning everything
I used the debug respawn player, the game stopped allowing me to interact, and when I rebooted the game none of the buttons in the cheats section of the menu could be pressed.

- make a Binding for anything you want to do, or
- disable more saves

then uninstall, or I think creating a folder called "Disabled" in the mods folder works

You may also want to make sure that you're not running Mod Installer from your Downloads folder, and you may need to run it as Administrator

It's easiest to delete all of them like that, yeah. You technically can edit the Global Settings file to manually remove one, but it's not great

From the mods Iโve seen and worked on theyโre meant to be compatible with other mods. Some mods purposely donโt have that in mind
i've been looking into save files recently and they're pretty much a mess when intergrated with mods
Mods that add new charms are meant to work with other mods adding new charms, while mods that replace charms are meant to be incompatible with other mods that replace the same charms
Nothing is really visibly different other than the globalsettings files
Global settings is there for saved data that isnโt specific to a save
i've only been looking at files, not making mods, so i'm mostly just thinking to myself right now
like... i know some mods that, when you enable a certain setting, it enables it for another save file than the one you're using

Heya here! After more than a hundred hours on my first file, I used ModManager (v8.7.1) to make myself a new save file with mods to make the game easier - cause I love it but I was going crazier with it's difficulty -. But now I want to came back to my old safe file in vanilla, to try Path of Pain for the first time on my "legit" save-file. The problem is, I have used the "reverse back to unmodded/vanilla game" button on the mod manager, and it seemed to work, but when I'm loading a file (a new one made just for making sure the mods where loaded or not) the mods are still loaded, and in function (the blue hearts from easy mods are here, the bonfire and teleport options too, I didn't check for the rest of it tho). Anyone can help me with that? I really don't want to risk compromise my original save with mods, and I don't want to uninstall all of the mods, since I plan on continuing my modded play through too someday :<

Download the mod DLLs, then put the DLLs you downloaded into there.
You may want to download them from the modlinks.xml only
so don't replace any of the files in there?

Once you open the game if you look at the top-left you should see some text by the way, that will confirm that you installed the modding api and mods are ready to be installed

only copy the link part of it and paste it inside a new tab's url field

Also make sure to read the text document attached inside the link's zip folder, that may give you some insight into the mod itself you are downloading
