So I asked this the other day and they told me to ask in this channel instead, just now getting around to it.

my controller rumble isn't working.
i have steam input disabled.
using the game's native input with a USB connection and a first party dualshock 4.
Rumble on, prompts are all playstation, controls fine, but it doesn't rumble. :(

For some reason whenever I start up hollow knight with mods it just crashes. I've reinstalled hollow knight and scarab but it keeps crashing. I'm using the latest version of scarab and the latest hollow knight so I'm confused.

For Hamachi errors, you'll want to Google those errors and look for troubleshooting steps. The Hamachi forums usually come up with things to look for.

That being said, It's been noted before that some Mac users have had a weird issues with HKMP (and similar networking games), that hasn't been figured out yet. It seems to be related to something on MacOS, or some kind of Mac-specific software.

If you have the ability to run a Windows VM, or dual-boot into Windows, then it should work without issue.

Otherwise you may want to try:

  • Turning off your Router
  • Turning off the Mac
  • Turn on the Router, and wait for it to have internet
  • Turn on the Mac

This may not fix it, but after a bit of looking for similar cases of people having mac-specific networking issues like this, it seems that MacOs may have a bug that causes LAN to occasionally not function correctly, and both devices need to be rebooted for it to work again.

I just got into mods for Hollow knight today and I got scarab and it was going pretty smoothly but when I try to launch the game it just straight up doesent let me? like the game doesent even open just gives me a crash error, I'm using 1.4.3.2 which I'm pretty sure is the correct version for modding. And I tried trouble-shooting it myself and turning off all the mods except for Custom knight and it's dependencies but it still doesent work- So I'm not really sure what to do

Changing patches makes your game vanilla. You have to install mods again after you change to "none"

Most modders already have a lot on their hands, but if you have something simple to do (a couple of number tweaks) it might be done, for anything more complex, like custom area, bosses, skin… it takes an enormous amount of time, so unless you have something really interesting and well thought, or are willing to pay a fee you’ll better off doing it yourself

There might be reasons to it. Like for example, your OS. If you aren't using the version that works with your OS, it will fail. There are always many other factors to it. Also, you have to open it to check.

How to use Scarab in Microsoft Store
🔹 First enter the Xbox app and move your mouse over Hollow Knight on the left bar.
🔹 Click the three points then click "Manage".
🔹 Go to the "Files" tab and select "Browse...".
🔹 Click Hollow Knight then Content, click the path bar and copy it.
🔸Run Scarab as admin and when it asks you for the path paste what copied before.

Alternate Method:

🔹 Look for a folder where you want to install the game (Preferably inside a folder in your desktop).

Btw, you can check your stats on the left of the screen in the debug menu. There should be a thing near the top that says "Naildmg", that should be 21 if you have pure nail and no damage boosting charms equipped

After installing, in order to actually use the mod
When the mod is correctly installed, you should see it at the top-left of your main menu, with the other mods you have installed.

If there is also some larger text that says "Load Enemy Randomizer", then press that button to randomize the enemies using the default settings (Note: you will need to wait a few minutes while this loads). If the button is not there, then go into Options > Mods, and Disable the mod, and then re-enable it. You will also need to close the game entirely, and re-open it.

🔹 Make sure Hollow Knight is CLOSED.
🔹 Make sure that all 4 installer files have been Extracted from the .zip and that the new folder isn't in your Downloads folder. (Extract the 4 files to your desktop)
🔹 Right-click the installer file, and select "Run as Administrator".

I somehow managed to remove the ability to focus from hollow knight. When the tank is one third full, it lights up, but not for me. I tried disabling the modding api, but that didn't work. If you have any idea at all on how to fix this, please let me know.

Hi! So me and my friend are trying to play HKMP, and we can't joined. We've been trying to join the IP, so he started hosting, but I had already tried hosting, and it wouldn't let me stop. I clicked the stop hosting button, but it won't respond, and whenever I try to join his server it says "Failed to connect: Connection timed out". Anybody know what I can do?

Hash is based on ALL settings not just the seed number. Everything must be exactly the same. Using the profile settings code helps with that

@heady kestrel I was able to get it to start the rando for both of us, however now there's a few other issues that are probably all correlated in some way. Neither instance can heal, pogoing on spikes causes players to go backwards a bit along with up, and when an item is picked up it softlocks the game for both instances.

How to use Scarab in Microsoft Store
🔹 First enter the Xbox app and move your mouse over Hollow Knight on the left bar.
🔹 Click the three points then click "Manage".
🔹 Go to the "Files" tab and select "Browse...".
🔹 Click Hollow Knight then Content, click the path bar and copy it.
🔸Run Scarab as admin and when it asks you for the path paste what copied before.

Alternate Method:
🔹 Click on your profile then "Settings"
🔹 Go to "General" tab and select "CHANGE FOLDER"
🔹 Look for a folder where you want to install the game (Preferably inside a folder in your desktop).
🔸 Copy the path bar, then run Scarab as Administrator and when it asks you for the path, paste what copied before.

Scarab path folder needs to have Hollow Knight_Data folder inside

Reset CustomKnight Creator Memory
This should fix errors that prevent the program from opening.

  • Press the WindowsKey + R at the same to time to bring up the "Run" window, then enter %appdata%\..\..\CustomKnight Creator and press Enter.
  • Delete the savestate.json file.
  • Run CustomKnight Creator again

Hello, I know this may seem dumb, but I'm confused on how my friend can join my multiplayer lobby using HKMP. We are trying to play a room/item randomizer, and I have a Hamachi server set up that we are both in. We both have the same mods installed, so does he need to join in from a world with the same settings as me, or can he join me from any world he creates? Currently when he try's to join it says the connection times out, despite us being on the same version.

🔹 How it works:

HKMP puts a copy of each player into each other players world. Enemies have separate health and can be in different places; items/abilities must be collected separately; breakable objects must be broken separately.
A player's attack will happen in each player's world, damaging any enemies/players it comes in contact with. A player is only hurt by the enemies in their own world.

For general use (PVP enabled)

Hi, not sure if this is the best place to ask but I haven't found a better channel.
I'm having issue with making my controller work specifically with Hollow Knight. I'm trying to make it work after a while not playing the game to play mods with scarab on latest patch (so 1.5.78.11833), I'm using an Xbox One wired controller, which is working for other games and even for Steam Big Picture, but for some reason not in Hollow Knight. I have tried Switch controller and PS4 controller and found the same issue.
I have made a bit of research and tried every common fix from the "?tag controller" I have found in this channel but to no avail. I'm honestly lost, if anyone has any idea of what I could try to fix this I'll gladly take the help
