Best time is the 4 orbs. Run to the opposite side, when he gets close, jump one, then heal.

Best method is to just brute force him between phases.

||When he is down on the floor, dream nail, attack, dream nail, attack. It should give you a lot of soul. With the right charms and upgrades, standing in a corner and spamming a spell would take him down instantly, letting you repeat this process.||

This strat is for ||hall of gods but you can use it for the pantheon as well.|| Just don't use the charms I recommended below.

||Use nailarts. Pretty much every one of your attacks should be either a great slash (if markoth is close) or a dash slash (if markoth is further away and you have space).
Don't chase markoth around. Stay on the platform of your choice and always have a nailart charged. You can play a little more aggressively and try going towards him getting a hit in if you feel comfortable but generally try to stay on your platform.
When markoth comes close it's time to deal damage. Use great slash to keep him at a distance. The knockback will help keep him away while the range is big enough to hit through his shield and stay safe.
Eventually markoth will move away or, if he comes too close, you'll have to move to a different platform.
Save your soul throughout the whole first phase for the second one. Then, once that starts, wait for the right opportunity to use all of it for shade soul. Trying to get as many double hits as possible, it is important that he is not right up against a platform or the wall. Usually a good moment is when he is spinning his shield around.
If he is still alive after you have used all your soul, finish him off with nailarts just like in the first phase.
Note that for the entire fight the right wall is a lot safer than the left one since no swords can spawn off screen to the right there.
For charms I recommend

• for ascended: shaman stone, nailmaster's glory, spell twister, soul eater, grubsong
• for radiant: shaman stone, nailmaster's glory, spell twister, soul catcher, heavy blow, soul eater||

||the phases before the platforms phase, is really just get good, dont play too fast, and mkae sure to dodge before attacking. Afterwards, the platforms phase is easily beatable if you just stay in the middle, and dodge attacks, and wait for radiance to come to you. when they use the orbs attack, a cool way to help dodge them is to pogo radiance to get extra heighgt, and if you think you cant give them the wraparound, use shade cloak, sometimes though, this leads to unfortunate circumstances where you're not ready for another orb, but it usually doesnt happen for me. then in climb phase, its a little RNG, but a way to combat the rng is to jump to the side to lure a laser away from the platforms, so you can shade cloak back. for the last phase, I recommend just using pogos to dodge radiances ball attacks, because it constantly refreshes your wings and dash for you to continuously use as you please||
