With an incredible health pool of 1500, a fast paced, double damage boss who takes away 2 of your charm notches should not be taken lightly. It is highly recommended to get maximum equipment to increase your chances of winning.
Recommended Charms
Grimmchild required
Any combination of the following: Shaman Stone, Quick Slash, Fragile/Unbreakable Strength (it will not break if you lose the fight as it occurs in the dream realm), Quick Focus, Mark of Pride, Grubsong, Shape of Unn
Attacks, and how to dodge/counterattack
Fire Bats: NKG sends out 4 bats that follow a consistent pattern: the 1st and 3rd bats will go low, and the 2nd and 4th bats go high. The easiest way to dodge the bottom 1st and 3rd is to jump over them. However, try not to jump too high as this might cause the upper bat to hit you. If you want to get some damage in, jump over the 1st bat and shadow dash through the 3rd one. With Quick Slash, you should be able to get 2-3 hits onto him. Occasionally, if you get too close to him while doing the bats attack, he teleports away and sends 2 bats simultaneously, one high and one low. Not much to say here other than to jump over the low one or shadow dash through.
Dive Dash: NKG appears at the top of the screen and dives towards you, then dashes horizontally before teleporting. A flame trail is present during this entire attack. While you can get some damage on him with the nail, it's quite risky, so dodge by double jumping over his horizontal dash, or cast Desolate Dive/Descending Dark while he does it. The 0.4s of invincibility provided is enough to keep you safe from the flame trail.||

Just dodge the attacks the same way you did before but minding the floor and don't get greedy

||Dash Uppercut: NKG appears near The Knight and does a forward slash attack before swiping up towards the ceiling and 6 fireballs rain down. To dodge, dash through him or away from him (depending on the status of your shadow dash) and try to return to the spot you initially started at to avoid the fireballs that come down. A riskier strategy is to jump up and down slash to parry his uppercut, then forward slash to get another hit in. The timing for this can be hard to get down so it is not recommended if you’re struggling.
Cloak Spikes: After a short telegraphing of their locations, spikes shoot up from the floor roughly spaced equally apart. These spikes are at an angle and the width of the safe spot can vary as you go upwards. The best way to avoid this attack is to stay grounded and react accordingly.
Flame Pillar: NKG remains stationary in midair, summoning 4 flame pillars one after another, that roughly tracks your most recent location. Each one is spaced about 1 second apart. The safest way to dodge them is to keep in mind where and when the telegraph appears before the flame erupts. Generally, once you see the telegraph, walk away from it and stop shortly after the flame appears. Repeat this pattern until all 4 flames are exhausted. If you wish to squeeze some extra damage in, you can walk towards NKG during this attack and cast Howling Wraiths/Abyss Shriek after the last pillar has vanished. Note that these pillars have lingering hitboxes, so be cautious around them||

||Pufferfish: NKG will inflate in the center of the arena and a pattern of fireballs spew out of him for roughly10 seconds. During this phase, he is immune to nail attacks, including nail arts, but will still take damage from spells. As for dodging, stand on the left/right corner of the arena, as far away from him as possible, and focus on that one corner. If there’s one fireball near the ground, do a small jump. If there’s 2, long jump. If there is none, don’t jump. Generally, you want to be making a reverse water drop shape with your jumps, returning to approximately the same spot as you starting off on the ground. If you correctly predict when he will pufferfish, you can easily get a full Abyss Shriek in for extra damage. Pufferfish is the best way to predict how much health he has left as it is only used 3 times throughout the whole fight, once at 75% of his HP (1125), again at 50% of his HP (750) and one last time at 25% HP (375).
Healing Opportunities
2 times during a stagger (3 with Quick Focus)
1 time during Cloak Spikes
1 time at the end of the Dash Uppercut if you’re in the safe spot
1 time at the end of the Flame Pillar Attack
2-3 time during the Fire Bats Attack (Only possible with Shape of Unn)||

||Charge: Ihe Gruz Mother simply charges right at you, pretty straightforward. This can be dodged by jumping and pogoing off of her or just walking forward.
Frenzy: another straightforward one, she simply slams herself on the roof, then the ground. Can be simply dodged by walking below her when she hits the roof||
Notes
||Not much to add to this boss. You can nearly hit her constantly, watch out for the 8 baby gruzzers that come out of her when you defeat her.||

i break it up into ||3 major phases, with some variance in the first phase||
||phase 1a: the radiance teleports around the arena, summoning sword walls, light walls, light orbs, sword rains, eye swords, and eye beams||
||phase 1b: the radiance does all of the above, but may summon spikes on the floor telegraphed by glowing lights, these spikes may be removed early by descending dark||
||phase 1c: the radiance teleports to the center of the arena, summons a smaller set of spikes on each side of the arena (not removable with ddark) and does nothing but summon sword rain (no teleports, no other attacks)||
||stagger: the radiance is pulled to the ground by void tendrils, she cannot be hit during this time (heal now)||
||phase 2: the radiance breaks out of the void tendrils and ascends, leaving platforms behind her, she now does all the same attacks as phase 1a but now she has more teleport locations and the floor is a hazard (stay on platforms)||
||phase 3: the radiance ascends again, leaving a thin column of platforms behind her, she now has one attack, shooting a telegraphed beam of light downwards, you must chase her upwards on the platforms while avoiding the light beam which gets more accurate as you climb||
||finale: once you have reached the radiance, strike her once to end the fight||

generally, ||shriek only when safe (ie right after the second sword burst, right after the third beam burst), abuse ddark's iframes if needed. dont leave the middle platforms unless needed (very rare) in phase 4||
||dont get greedy with pogos in phase 6 (final); use wings to bait the orbs offscreen. for phase 5 (climb), jump when the beam forms and use wings when it strikes||

||flukenest|| can be super good but only if you’re a super experienced person who knows exactly what they’re doing. i recommend you don’t use it. ||shaman, quick slash, and strength|| are the three best ones and you should ALWAYS have those three equipped whenever ur doing a boss. i personally find ||nail arts|| pretty helpful for this fight since you have a quick window to attack and get away and when they roll around you can’t do nail damage so that’s your chance to charge it up.

But well, ||gpz is just really complex.
Most general tips I can give you is to try and learn simple dodges for every attack, like nkg. Dodge and react with attacks in between, whatever works.
Attacks don't overlap, and you can always get some downtime in between them.

If he's coming into you, you can always dash through.
For minions you want to focus on them, one slash or just spell them out. Volatiles are the scariest since they block things. Try to shade soul them, or alternative use a ddark after Zote does an attack, this will kill any dangerous volatile and protect you from the boss
For healing, you can heal in minion spawns if you want, but also 2 heals during stagger||

||Attack, dodge, attack, dodge. Or if you want, tank her hits and go ham on her and heal twice every time she staggers. Either way use strength, shaman, spell twister and anything additional you like. Tip: if you have grimmchild then it'll prioritize shooting the spike traps||

Here's some quick stuff for the fight:

• ||Healing is very possible in this fight and vital if you are getting consistently hit every so often, ALWAYS USE STAGGERS TO HEAL IF YOU HAVE ANY MASKS MISSING, the 1-2 free hits is not worth a couple free heals. Another thing that is good for healing is actually the fire bat attack, if you wait a second for the last ground bat there is just enough of a window to heal under the bat as it doesn't really hit you on the ground most of the time, I can consistently do this but I remember it getting me hit once or twice, so use shape of unn for the smaller hitbox to be safe if you wish. Another good healing window is the fire piller attack right at the end of the attack when the last piller is firing and you are out of the way, there is enough time for 1 or 2 heals with quick focus/good timing. Multiple other healing possibilities, such as the tentacle attack, but they are more risky.||
• ||Let's talk when to attack: the lunge-uppercut attack can be used as an attack window either by dashing out of the way of the lunge and attacking him as he uppercuts, or via jump - pogoing ontop of him and damaging him that way. As for the air - ground lunge attack, this can be used to deal damage via pogoing onto him at the right time, then double jumping off to safety, if it looks like you won't make the pogo, double jump right away to avoid the attack. The fire bat attack can be used to deal damage via jumping over the first bat then dashing towards grimm under the overheat bats and getting a swing in or two. And then the best attack to attack is the fire piller attack, while dodging the pillers walk past grimm as he is stationary doing the pillers and wack him a few times, trying to keep moving out of the fire pillers as you do so, steady body helps a lot with this attack, and mark of pride helps with all the pogos.||
