charm notches don't count, but you don't want to leave any for the late game hard stuff
npc questlines don't often count, but they are more than not tied to progression and can always be started again||
everything else counts (unless you really want to grab every ||relic ||and geo rock but like... no)

You can't really just make him easy to beat with one trick. You can make some adjustments to make it a little easier tho:
||- unless directly above the ground, never jump over his seeking orbs. Instead, always dash towards him to dodge them. They will hit the ground behind you and disappear.

• you can heal when he's staggered (takes a break) or whenever he flies across the arena with the orbs around him. When he does that just stand in the center after you dodged it and start healing. On their way back the orbs won't hit you.
• use vengeful spirit. I know it's difficult since he teleports so quickly but once you get the hang of it it's quite doable and makes the fight a lot easier.
• use charms that help with soul for spells and healing. If you want you can send an image of your charm inventory.
• Don't play too aggressively. When he teleports somewhere don't immediately dash in his direction but wait until you're certain you know which attack he is doing, and then try to dodge it and deal damage.||
