||they are simply different. Vengeful spirit is good for dealing damage when you're in front of him either close or far away.
Desolate dive is good for dealing damage from above him or to dodge his attacks although that is a little more advanced. (If you wanna try it I recommend using it every time he screams which spawns the lasers from the ceiling||

|| Oh yea, basically you can find your "own way" of counering each attack(cough cough, totally not looking up a guide) and then whenever you fight him try putting a thought in your mind, like narrarate kinda, like if NKG decides to throw bats at you then remember to jump once and dash him so you can attack. NKG is like a dance(yes i copied that), when he makes one move you have to follow up with your same counter-move EVERY single time. NKG has the same attacks the entire fight ||
