Charm Build 2: Nailmaster’s Glory, Heavy Blow

Markoth is often deemed one of the hardest and most annoying bosses to do Radiant, so here I’m suggesting 2 different charm builds catered to 2 different strategies of dealing damage in the first phase. As you may be able to tell, one is nail art based, and one is based around using the regular nail.

In both strategies, we want to save our soul for the second phase, to attack him with Shade Soul, because he’s much harder to hit in his second phase, and it’s significantly harder than his first.

Using elegy to pierce through his shield is a strategy many use for this fight, but in my opinion, this makes 2nd phase much more difficult and isn’t worth giving up all of your soul gain.

Markoth cannot transition phases during his shield spin attack. If you happen to get him on the brink of his 2nd phase right before he does a shield spin, you can avoid hitting him until he does his shield spin to deal some extra damage before you fight his 2nd phase.

If you’re using the nail art strategy, it will take 11 great slash or dash slashes to reach his 2nd phase. If you’re using the regular nail strategy, it will take 15 regular nail hits.

During his shield spin attack, you can shade dash through his spinning shield at the start of the attack, get some hits in with the nail or with nail arts depending on your build, then shade dash out. If you’re using the non-nail art build, you mainly only want to attack markoth during his shield spin attack in his 1st phase, although if you get lucky with his position and his shield’s, you can get some extra hits in without too much effort.

His shield(s) will rotate around him, changing directions about every 3 rotations.||

In his 2nd phase, his attack rate increases to sending a nail every 0.75-1.25 seconds. Each of these nails have a random windup time, so be careful. There’s a sound that plays when he summons a nail, and a 2nd sound effect for when he launches it.The biggest con with spells and nail arts is that they freeze you in place for a short period of time. In markoth, it’s still absolutely worth it to use them because of the range and damage. Make sure that when you use a nail art or spell, a nail isn’t headed your way immediately.

If you’re using Nailmaster’s, using a great slash mid air without aiming to attack markoth directly can also be useful for an air stall while keeping your dash and double jump.

Throughout the fight, sometimes markoth may try to head towards your direction and force you to move. If you have the nail art build, Heavy Blow will help you knock him away from you, and keep your position. If not, be aware of the timing of the nail spawns when you relocate.

In his 2nd phase, he should have around 10 Shade Soul hits worth of hp left. You should have full soul at this point. Your Shade Souls are more likely to hit multiple times if markoth is moving away as you shoot him.

If you run out of soul in his 2nd phase, your best bet is to hit him with a dash slash at the start of a shield spin attack, or at the end of one, regardless of the build you’re Using "||

Can I have some suggestions for help on ||colo 3? I can't get past the stage directly after Mawlek with the spikes on the ground. I'm trying to go for nail arts to instakill the aspids and squits but can't quite get through it.||

||Nail arts one shot aspids, but try to do that mostly for as they spawn in.
Not getting hit is obviously good, but the end goal should be to maintain your soul economy for spells (Avoiding wasting soul on healing) With that in mind, consider shaman stone, and nail length||

||Besides that, generally speaking you just need to play around platforms comfortably to win. Use double jumps to stall, and farm soul off of slow enemies with the dreamnail||

||from what I found it says 13 times, or 7 times with less than 2 seconds between hits. Not sure how accurate it is though.||

It depends on the boss, as Kozen said, ||LK takes 13 with 7 combo of <2s||

Combo means that if you manage to get all hits without time greater of that described between any two of them, the boss will stagger regardless of the main counter.

Yes, my favorite is ||Hornet 1, she has 11 with 6 combo of <2s, so if she staggers near a wall, you can hit her to wake up, left shriek for 4 hits and knock her to the wall, and one last hit is the 6th for the combo and she staggers||

And 6 also means a full ||cyclone|| slash just after she falls knocks her, and she doesn't even have time to react lol
