Furthermore, a dash takes 0.28 seconds to complete. Exactly the same time as it takes for a nail swing with quick slash. Due to how powerful and widely used quick slash and unbreakable strength are, I would consider it fair to consider those as the nail dps. This means that sharp shadow, when used perfectly, gains 11 damage every 1.5 seconds, or 8 damage per second. Another option would be using dashmaster to boost its damage to match unbreakable strength, meaning you can either pay 2 notches for 7 less dps, or 4 notches to equalize it. To put into perspective how much 7 dps is, you could kill nightmare king Grimm in 3.5 minutes if you did that much constant damage. Except you're not doing that much damage, you're losing it. that wont stop me from using it, || yes the damage is nice but i dont use sharp shadow for the 21 damage it does. the damage is a really nice thing to have yes, but for certain bosses my brain is just too slow (pv) and instead of pogoing attacks, i just dashed through all, or most of them with the enhanced dash length, i know i miss out on a lot of dmg but id rather play it safe even if its "boring" or takes longer, im in no way trying, or ever tried, to speedrun any boss, the longer dash range is really comfortable to have, i lowkey couldn't care less about the damage it does, but yh nice addition but i wouldnt ever say to take ss because of the dmg

as mentioned before, it really helped me in pv, even if the fight took longer, boss died, thats all what counts, might have missed out on a lot of hits because i didnt pogo and instead dashed through it, but i got idk 90% of my dmg in when pv did his dagger attacks. yeah it made the fight longer but idccc, boss dead eventually = me happy, dashing through the attacks (especially lunge and 3 slash) was for me a lot easier and less risky than pogoing, i know thats not the "best" way to kill the boss but as long as it dies

tldr: i use sharp shadow for the dash length and comfort it gives instead of arguing about using it because of the dmg||

What are staggers?

Stagger is when a boss stops attacking and u have a chance to heal or get a free hit on the boss. Keep in mind whenever u hit the boss they’ll immediately start attacking again they will also start attacking aging after a bit of time has passed

How do staggers work?

Staggers aren’t based on the damage u deal but the amount of hits, (here one hit is equal to one nail hit or one hit from a spell) meaning u need to hit a boss x times before they staggers doesn’t matter what nail upgrade (Keep in mind every boss has a different stagger value and some bosses do not stagger).

What are Combo Staggers?

Combo Staggers where if you hit a boss a certain amount of times in a given amount of time it will stagger the positive here is that the stagger amount is less than the normal stagger amount. The combo timer resets every time it hits 0 and you will be required to do the combo again however this method of staggering is separate from the normal staggering meaning if u hit Hornet 1 time every 2 seconds you will stagger her within 6 hits however if u fail to do so and don’t hit her it won’t change the normal stagger amount and once that hits 13 Hornet will stagger. Keep in mind every boss has a different combo timer and different combo value

What is an example of “How staggers work?” ?

Hornet requires 13 hits to be staggered meaning if u hit her with an Upgraded Nail or Base Nail she will still stagger after 13 hits.

How do staggers work with different ways to deal damage?

Different ways of damaging have different amount of hits they deal

1 Vengeful Spirit can deal 1-3 hits this is known as Double hitting or Triple hitting.

Basically in game there is a timer called the combo timer

This timer resets every you it hit the boss (so in this case if you hit him once and then hit him again in 1.5 seconds then the timer will start again at 1.5)

if you hit a boss a certain amount of times before the timer runs out you stagger them earlier

So normally in this case

Hive Knight will stagger after 17 hits

However if you hit him 12 times before the timer hits 0 he’ll stagger||
