for charms just go with the basic ||strength, qslash, shaman, sbody overcharm with eater||. You can also change some stuff like adding ||glory if you like using narts or overcharming with mark of pride which can also help a lot if you aren't used to using a lot of spells||

For the fight don't be too greedy. ||Only try to get in 2 hits or so in between every one of his attacks and then dash away again so you don't get hit by his next attack. If you are in the air above him which can be tricky to deal with or are generally in a tricky situation you can use descending dark for the iframes and then dash away. Also try to not get too far away from him while he does an attack. This might seem weird but he's quick and can stop and change his attack if you go too far away so it might seem safe at first but suddenly he stops and jumps at you. For his cyclone just camp on a wall until it's over and then again the safest way would be to ddark to get back down safely. Other than that are there any other attacks you specifically struggle with?||

let me know if you guys have tips for reducing input lag as well. the best trick I've found online is capping the frame rate through the steam client specifically with the command "DXCK_FRAME_RATE=60 % command" but I have no idea how or why that works

okay fascinating... I figured something out. I can uncap the framerate via the steam deck advance settings and then it jumps from 60 to around 300! And yes, low and behold, the ||sword burst|| attack is now super fast!

and plus it seems like there's a very specific set of fps limiting / screen tearing settings you have to do to minimize input lag on steam deck and it's quite frustrating to try and figure out

real quick, can you double check that your game is actually running at 60fps and you get the fast attack? I can't replicate this. (Are you on pc or console?)
When I'm on pc it appears the "frame rate cap" option in the hollow knight settings "limits" the frame rate to a whopping 400fps (it's like 600fps without this). Enabling vsynch on the other hand caps you frame rate at 60fps.

No matter how I do it (whether on steam deck or pc), if my frame rate is 60fps I get slow attack, if it's higher it's faster.

This actually kind of implies to me that the slow attack is the intended mechanic, as I believe I heard that team cherry did their playtesting with vsynch enabled. Also that attack is so frigging fast otherwise... (cope)

so dont focus on those much

he doesnt have an insane amount of health, you can take him out

just try to hang on and deal as much damage as possible
