Basically information on safe dosage of lifeblood for demigods… and unsafe dosage. Aka part of why hornet is so scrambled in the dead blood AU

First off -Hornet is poison resistance georg. Most mortals have a far smaller safe dosage limit.

So the safe amount for Hornet, and the amount she’s willing to have prepared for any one adventure, is five masks. She can handle more than this before overdose, but prefers to stay safely well below the limit. At this level of exposure, most bugs definitely feel the physical and psychoactive effects, but it’s not enough to be overwhelming.

I struggled so hard with the arms and legs but I opted for 6mm hook rather than 8mm like the yarn suggests so it would be a bit tighter stitched

God damn it I’m struggling so much. I thought I was doing okay, but applying actual logic makes my fic idea fall apart. In canon, it took a literal army, a bunch of sealing runes and a thousand miles for Hornet to actually stay kidnapped for longer than a few hours, and I suspect Pharloom being very far away from Hallownest is why nobody she recognizes has made their way over. Even if the parasitoid wasp in my fic dragged her to unfamiliar territory and paralyzed her, there’s no way she’d be gone for longer than the few hours it took Ghost to navigate the zone and fight the boss -and if it was too hard Ghost could just call upon their many allies. Sigh

…Dang it and the dreamer concept I had isn’t working for this fic on account of any scene change here at all distracting from the torment…

I finally wrote myself out of the corner I was in!! I was struggling to justify how Hornet stayed kidnapped for longer than a few hours -but I realized that the only problem person for me as a writer was Ghost. Without the immortal player character with godlike powers, it actually makes sense for it to take days, if I simply make the search and rescue dangerous enough -the abundance of caution the mortals will need to show will slow everyone down significantly, and I think there’s a massive power gap between Ghost and everyone else (besides maybe the other siblings, but none are as frustrating to try to nerf as Ghost).

I then needed to figure out what sort of urgent situation could possibly be difficult enough to make Ghost struggle for several days, that they couldn’t just postpone or delegate to someone else… I feared I’d written myself into a new corner, as any situation that could give Ghost difficulty for several days straight and could not be postponed would likely be too distracting for me to want to use as an excuse plot in a two-shot fic… until I realized that you can fight external enemies but you can’t fight sickness, and thus, getting rid of Ghost until I want them again is as simple as giving them a poorly timed ailment that delays them for a few days.
