I need some advice on this. I did a whole lot of experimenting on this one. The eyes and right leg on cloth are how I normally draw the solid black stuff, everything else solid black are variations with pen involved. I also tried replacing the pencil for outlines on the traitor lords bottom with pen. I messed with layering blue onto the grey on traitor lords cape because with the picture it looked like a slight blue grey. I left the top of traitor lords cape unblueified for comparison. Cloths club and body color are the same, but I attempted using a black with just a light hand to see if it looked better. I think that’s all of the experiments I tried with this drawing. I’m having difficulty remembering everything I messed with because I started at 11 pm, and it lasted 3 hours. The only reason I don’t like doing pen is if I screw up, like I did slightly on traitor lords tip (I know that sounds wrong), I can’t fix it. I need suggestions and advice. I also could only find one good reference pic. What do you all think?

He soon picks up the nail and wanders throughout the land gathering more scars from battle, its shell becoming more void than pale, but stronger evermore. Inspired by the nail masters he adorned a similar style cloak and wields a nail way heavier than himself

I need some advice on this. I did a whole lot of experimenting on this one. The eyes and right leg on cloth are how I normally draw the solid black stuff, everything else solid black are variations with pen involved. I also tried replacing the pencil for outlines on the traitor lords bottom with pen. I messed with layering blue onto the grey on traitor lords cape because with the picture it looked like a slight blue grey. I left the top of traitor lords cape unblueified for comparison. Cloths club and body color are the same, but I attempted using a black with just a light hand to see if it looked better. I think that’s all of the experiments I tried with this drawing. I’m having difficulty remembering everything I messed with because I started at 11 pm, and it lasted 3 hours. The only reason I don’t like doing pen is if I screw up, like I did slightly on traitor lords tip (I know that sounds wrong), I can’t fix it. I need suggestions and advice. I also could only find one good reference pic. What do you all think? I’m reposting because nobody saw this last night. (Probably because it was 3 am (sorry for the wall of text))

Also this picture above the message looks cool, I don’t know how they get such clean lines and colors and stuff. I just want to get better. Also, it took me 3 hours to do that one drawing, other people whip out much better stuff in like 15 minutes and call it a sketch

Also when it comes to lineart you could try to break outline into parts, that way your hand will have easier to adjust
Also as for me, for skretching and lineart I use so called "chicken lineart" which it's short fast strokes with pen/pencil

For colours those are alcohol markers
I can recommend that type if you would like to go into them
Water based are rather herder to blend

the cause of chicken linart is using your wrist only i believe

Yep that's true that I do use wrist for it, but like I mentioned the sketching type of lines that appear more sorted and collected than one stroke lineart which is harder to practise with shaking hands

^^i used to frequently watch speed paints to get a sense of how others draw things. You can still actually trace some of my anatomy to creepypasta speedpaints I watched 10 years ago lol. But that's something you could try too.

^^it looks like you don't quite have the right colours for some parts — try going back over things to get the colours your after. It's a really finicky thing though so always try on a separate piece of paper before immediately going in, or you might realise it looks off and you won't have an easy way to fix it.
^^id also try messing with the thickness of your lines, if you can. If I was copying this screenshot to the size you are, I'd probably use a standard-sized Sharpie.
^^keep in mind that some pencils blend better than others. Crayola can handle maybe three layers of pencil before it doesn't want to lay any colour down because it has more wax than say prismacolour.

^^as an aside, you did do a really good job at copying the reference; I think you're being a little hard on yourself.

^^also... yeah practice and time and patience are really important
^^the poses I drew when I was 8 took forever, but I could probably do them pretty quickly now. Once you've done something a few times you get a pretty good sense of how to do it again and don't always necessarily need to reference as much

I can add that you can start to colour in one direction with gently force, it will help with shading later

^^i would recommend trying to pin down a couple of the brands though. BC again different brands have different amounts of wax or binder

^^also yes what oma said, but also, circles are a great way to cover quite a bit of ground imo. And with Crayola if I wanted the colours to be more solid I would go over everything in white — ideally you should do this with a colour related to the base colour, though.

Thank you all for all this help. I’ll keep working on improving everything, and maybe get a handle on the color pencil brands. Also I think I have done color theory at some point, but when I’m working with references I just try to match the color, not make my own

^^with colour theory the like. Terms are kinda hard to remember but as long as you get the basic idea you're good to go.

I imagine the fight involves breaking down the outer shell, then whiplashing in to punch the thing before the shell closes around you. Basically alternating between fighting it on the outside and the inside.

I’ll admit that I’m not really any sort of AU junkie and so all my knowledge of it as cursory at best, but when I saw that your work seemed to be maintaining their personalities whilst still swapping their position, my interest was piqued. Like, that way it feels more like an actual parallel reality to the UT universe, rather than something that might as well be its own thing. And I suppose it’s more interesting to see what happens when the actual personalities and occupations are shifted all about rather than conforming a personality to what’s deemed best for the job, if that makes sense.
