You don't have to jump to initiate it
Technically you don't have to for ddark either but the grounded windup has a little jump and it's technically faster to pre-jump yourself so I say it still requires some jumping
You can do a shade soul in middair over bottomless pits and not nosedive your noggin into the void. Great for Markoth ysee.
It's really consistent and predictable and the knockback on enemies is also really consistent making it better for Obbles than Wraiths Imo
