In my fuzzy memory it likely originated from "teams" wherein people in this Discord would simply place some character they liked in their name, and then arbitrarily argue in favour of them as a sort of playful sport. (Team Pale King, Team Radiance, and Team Void being the first few that popped up)

People would often organize this by putting it in their name in much the similar format as the achievements:

Name | Team <Character name>

I suppose at some point it must have slowly transitioned from this arbitrarily thing to something people used to display themselves. Most likely happening because people would append it into their name:

Name | Team <Character name> | <Some achievements>

But eventually the whole idea of character teams was entirely forgotten, and so we ended up with the format we have today
