i agree that voidheart was the large part of the reason due to the unification of the void providing huge strength to the knight in numerous ways, but do you not think there are levels to how hollow vessels are? for example we don't talk to lost kin after beating it but just accept it, and thk would have been 'more hollow' without the ideas instilled in it by pk, despite not truly being hollow from the start. we can also infer from dialogue that the knight is not truly hollow. therefore there could or could not be a vessel which were truly hollow, and even a vessel more hollow than the knight would probably be able to get access to voidheart

maybe the part of pk's plan that was doomed from the start was maybe just the vessel he chose, and his method of selection, and also abandonment of every other vessel into the abyss (granted that he didn't want anyone to know of his plan), and if by some other means of selection, he was able to choose a more suitable, 'hollower' vessel, then it would have been able to truly contain the radiance? (without pk's implanted idea). especially since you said that it is shown how thk isn't hollow from the start as he looks back at the knight. what if pk's plan could have worked but pk is just an idiot and didn't execute it properly

The planet of HK orbits a dim red dwarf star and is tidally locked to it. That's why on the side of HK it is perpetually night. But also the atmosphere is thick enough to impede vision of the stars and trap enough heat from the dim star to sustain life even in the dark side

The really big depths HK happens on would suggest Oxygen doesn't really reach that far. Most likely then all life is anaerobic, which coincides with early Earth life until the appearance of cyanobacteria. If that's the case, even the air in the surface wouldn't have oxygen since the non oxygen used life would die to the oxidation, meaning the planet very likely lacks oxygen in the atmosphere, and the evolution of an aerobic life form could result in a massive extinction event like the great oxidation was.
