This is a question that always fascinated me as well considering the environment we play in.
I guess TC didn't had so many concerns about the subject, but the fact bugs can sink in game, the leaves size, the droplets size of different liquids (including water) and other kind of details are almost based on a human scale (or at least, far bigger than bugs scale).
However, TC themselves shared a realistic render of the HK on a wet leaf on their website, and it had around the size of an IRL heteroptera.
So until they officially declare what the correct size is, we will never know.
For the moment, the two proposals from the studio are contradictory, so there is no truth.
