@worn hamlet After a bit of thought, I realized that my last explanation of sequences may have been misleading, cause I seemingly differentiated between maps and functions more than I needed to, and some other reasons

Maps ARE functions, sometimes those are used to mean more or less specific things in different contexts but they arent like, fundamentally different things, I want that to be clear

Also when I wrote the line in the image, I intended to clarify that practically it is not that different from more familiar functions like f(x) = x^2 or f(x) = x + 1, etc (just restricted to Natural numbers as inputs, while normally in calculus 1 you would work with functions that take real numbers).

You won't really see people write sequences like that, they are basically always written with the input (called index) as a subscript.

And also, I may have gone overboard with formalities. A sequence is really just, some objects that come in a specified order, and allow for repetition. Like 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8,...

The function definition is just the way it is defined formally, and isnt necessary for a decent understanding, sorry for that
