compared to other bosses, yes it is quite unbalanced BUT
when you first met him in the kingdoms edge, (at least for me) isnt that hard (beated first try with like 1 hit)
but then i came with the ascended version of him and heres the reasons:
markoth is put well by the 3 aussies up high in the P5 because it IS a really challenging boss
because what else would you do apart from taking the floor to add the challange for the ascendend boss, you would just camp on floor and wait for him to come down

i think taking the floor away while not exactly "boosting" his attacks is valid reason that he is hard
second phase really kicks in because double the shield and faster attacks but if you are a soul build then sure, just wait for soul and then spam him
but if you really want to get engaged in that fight (or just hate yourself really) then nail build is just more fun than this

this god, was actually more or less the opposite and they thought wrong
the god does fix their problems, by starting to end everything, so it technically is doing what they wanted, just in the wrong way.
the player decides that if they are gonna die they should explore the world as they had only lived in a cave town their entirely life.
after the start of their journey and first boss, a god of light (rival of the god that was summoned basically) was going to choose a knight of the kingdom as their "chosen one" to help save the kingdom, but chooses the player as they see something in him.
this is why the player uses spells of light or whatever
