On my first playthrough I theorized that the infection takes advantage of your dreams, it said it was “something deep inside of them that they could not escape” and the false knight’s description makes it sound like the infection pushed him to try n gain more power and protect the maggots. I had this theory before I found out abt the radiance’s origin n stuff
