No, the Steam Deck clearly won't seem that heavy in hands because the weight will have much larger distribution compared to a Switch.

My GPD Win 3 weighs 550g in comparison, yet it has good weight distribution so it doesn't strain your hands all that much.

Two words for you: Niche market.

The Deck is clearly not trying to compete with the Switch.

Valve isn't stupid enough to attack Nintendo right on their turf.

Video games are a luxury after all.

Again, just because an item seems reasonably affordable doesn't mean anyone can necessarily afford it.

You've got housing, fuel, food, bills, etc. to pay first.

You can earn enough money each month to buy multiple Switches, it doesn't mean you necessarily have the money to do so once all the necessary monthly expenditures have been made.

The pricing alone already tells that they don't target the same demographics either.

So in the end, the whole "Deck will kill Switch situation" is just perpetrated by clueless fools who are unable to discern the markets both those items target, it's not up to Valve to educate them on the market works, and worst of all, that opinion is such a minor one in the grand scheme of things.

There's not a single reasonable person who believes it will be a Switch-killer.

They already informed the userbase of what the Deck does, and telling which item it competes against isn't part of it.
