GMS created lace for very selfish reasons: to create a child purely out of her silk so she won't be able to leave her like the weavers' did. Lace constantly needs silk to survive, hence not being able to abandon pharloom as the weavers did. Lace knew the purpose of her creation very well, hence her bitterness towards her mother. Plus, she seems to be "jealous" of how gms needs hornet but not her. Maybe gms didn't need Lace's service bc she came to love her as a daughter at some point and didn't want her to "serve" her like the weavers did? After all, she needed hornet and the weavers only for their silk and service. And gm, obviously being not Normal, couldn't express her love in a normal way until Lace was about to die. So her neglect was somehow her twisted way of caring for Lace maybe?

Guys this might be a dumb question but do we know for sure what happens to GMS after SS TE ? Does the void consume her right after ?

She gives whats left of her life force to help hornet superjump. The last of her disentigrates to do so, basically she dies expending herself to save lace before the void can eat her.

Like why would the cocoon protect lace against the void but GMS would be consummed since they're both silk

Gms is constantly replenishing silk in the cocoon, as the void keeps eating at it. She will run out soon enough

She sent up Silk to try and cling on and not sink further into the Void, but since she was already in the Void it could climb up to Pharloom via the threads

BTW really love the way third act starts, and the whole change in it. Yunno, it's not like HK series have the most detailed characters - they're really detailed, but still to the extent of Metroidvania genre. And yet... seeing calamity beginning right in front of your own eyes... haunted kingdom suddenly growing to a new level: post-apocalyptic... That gave me unfeigned chills, especially in view of it was around 2-3 am.

I actually played a lot of different horror or in any way creepy and sad games (HK 1 included as a sad game), yet THAT desperation feeling... was just too overwhelming still
