No. I think she had the same conditional love for lace and phantom. I think Phantom failed to meet her expectations and so was discarded. I feel like some of laces behavior is explained by having a narcissistic controlling mother.

She still loves lace, but less as her own being that can make her own decisions and just as a little creation. Like how somebody would love a doll or something.
